Siloso Beach, Sentosa, Singapore

Singapore is a boring city but one thing that keeps me going back to this city state is their beach. They don't have beautiful beach to die for as most of their beach are fake but who cares, their beach are always so hot and happening, I can't find one beach in Malaysia that is as hot and happening as Siloso Beach.
Siloso Beach is the home of beach volleyball enthusiasts. The stretch of beach also boasts of dining and shopping outlets, and for those who like their day at the beach more vigorous, engage yourself in other outdoor activities such as canoeing, skim boarding, mountain biking or rollerblading.
Beach Volley Ball
Beach Basketball
Dine at the beach
Beach Parties
Lastly romantic wedding at the beach
Why can't Penang have such a nice public beach?
There are so many stretch in Penang the government can turn it into public beach by laying stretch of artificial sand. Why spend so much money in building tourist attractions when those tourist attractions does not attract tourist at all. Most tourist come to Malaysia to experience our lifestyle and our culture. Penang government should encourage more healthy lifestyle like beach sports and water activities. We should organise more activities by the beach. We don't need a beautiful beach with crystal clear water, all we need is more artificial beach with lots of activities. This way not only we have more weekend inbound tourist to the Penang Island but we can promote healthy lifestyle and increase the citizen's creativity.
To Penang developers developing property along the coast ?
Promoting lifestyle can always boost the price of your property. For developer such as IJM, it is time you contribute something back to the Penang society. Thank you for the toll-free Jelutong Expressway but if the JE stretch has a nice artificial public beach with cycling and and jogging path then it will be perfect. Besides those beach park you are building will significantly increase the price of your property along that stretch.
Frankly speaking the Queensbay project stretch has the best view. If an artificial beach is being build there, they can promote kayaking activity and most importantly, the view opposite is the nice (so call) resort island Pulau Jerejak.
If I am Jerejak Resort & Spa Marketing Manager ?
All Penangite knows that Jerejak Resort & Spa is a hopeless resort. No one ever want to visit it and there is nothing to do at the island. The only time anyone wants to visit that island is to attend some stupid company seminar or team building event which they wish it is done at some Batu Ferringi hotel. The whole island sleeps after dark with no alcohol allow and there is nothing as all to do besides looking at the lights of the Penang Island. You are basically trap inside the island.
If I am Jerejak Resort & Spa marketing manager, I would first make Pulau Jerejak more accessible to the public. Who would pay RM 20 just to get to your island. Come on be reasonable, RM 2 per person would be some what reasonable and please make the ferry schedule more frequent. More visitor to your beach is an asset to you as it makes your resort more happening. Do you know feng shui, more ppl means more energy. Next create more event at your beach front, organise weekend beach party and yes we need those alcohol drink please. Have beach bikini contest, mini beach concerts, beach volleyball competitions and other beach events. Make sure you give away free tickets to young sexy ppl through your college promotion drives. People attracts people and word of mouth advertising is very powerful.
Sigh.. Malaysia really need more creative places for their youth to hang out.. In KL, the nearest fun beach I can find surprisingly it is not Port Dickson but it is the new Sunway Surf Beach. I am checking out Sunway Surf Beach soon, wait for my review.

Wow. I like your "brutal" comments on Penang beach. I cannot agree more. Singapore have nothing (they know it too well) and thus all efforts being put up to beautify and make-it-happening their place of attraction. It pays off well for them. Now they want to build Casino... We at Malaysia simply taking things for granted.. like nowadays i revisited Pulau Redang and Pulau Perhentian. All coral reafs are dead dude. So sad. People there also don't seem to realize if they don't protect it, they will lose their job once the place lose its appeal. Frankly, i don't even know Pulau Jerejak will cost RM20 to go there coz i really don't give a damn. I've been living in BM for past 20 over years and never even heard fren / families talking about Pulau Jerejak (Not a word!). So you can imagine...how sucks it to be the "marketing manager" of such a ghostly place, if there is any such position at all! - Adrian Oh, 11 October 2006 11:01 PM
Agreed. Shame on you Penang!! No nice public beach except in Batu Ferringgi. You don't deserve the title of "Pearl of the Orient" :( - Penang Beach Volleyball Court: Wanted!, 8 November 2007 5:23 PM
